A New Spin on Your Neighbourhood Watch Program!

Round up your neighbours for a Solar Eclipse Neighbourhood Watch Party!

Grab your Solar Eclipse glasses and lawn chairs!

A partial solar eclipse will be visible (weather permitting) in Southwestern Ontario on April 8, 2024, starting at 2:04 PM and ending at 4:31 PM. Mark your calendars!

Here are some suggestions and tips from the experts about “How to Safely Watch the 2024 Solar Eclipse”, but do your own due diligence to be safe during this event. If in doubt, watch it live on the NASA channel!

1. Search for “solar eclipse glasses ISO-certified 12312-2 Canada 2024”.

2. Here are some suggested glasses available from Amazon.ca:

   · Medical King Solar Eclipse Glasses are NASA-approved.

   · Soluna Solar Eclipse Glasses are made in the USA and are ISO-compliant by the American
     Astronomical Society.

   · Solar Eclipse Glasses comply with ISO 12312-2:2015(E) international standard.

3. Ensure to inspect your solar eclipse glasses before use. If you see any sign of damage or scratches, do not use them.

4. Read and carefully follow all directions that come with the solar eclipse glasses.

5. Monitor and oversee children’s use of solar eclipse glasses.

6. Never glance at the eclipse through a camera, telescope, binoculars or any other similar device – even if you’re wearing solar eclipse glasses.

And if you hear hooting owls or the mating croaks of frogs during the eclipse, don’t be alarmed! The changing light shifts the behaviour of animals, amphibians, and birds. Ribbit, ribbit!
